NEW LUCY MANLEY EXHIBIT “WOODLAND MAGIC” – Opening April 29,2017

16-55 - Woodland Fantasy-2 signaturesThe Gallery on the Lake in Buckhorn, On. is marking  Canada’s 150th Birthday by “Celebrating Canadian Artists” . These artists are gaining worldwide recognition for their ability to capture the incredible diversity of Canadian Landscapes.

In this spirit the Gallery launches its new season with Lucy Manley’s “Woodland Magic.” This exhibit illustrates Canadian Landscapes for each of the four seasons, captured in glorious colour. Lucy Manley’s skill as an artist has been honed over decades and sharpened through her commitment to continuous learning. To this end Manley is spending most of April 2017 in the south of France “following the sun” each day to explore her passion and hone her techniques.   The new works on display will continue to represent her love of the great Ontario Woodlands. To quote Manley “This show will have some pieces painted in my new approach on black canvas with full chroma colour .This  method  evolved from my usual painting on a white canvas that was stained with raw sienna and then working loosely with washes before building up to thick strokes of paint.  I like to use both of these methods with the subject dictating which way to go, on black or on white.   It gives a fresh interpretation of the scene painted and hopefully gives the viewer a magical view.”

Previews of the exhibit can be seen weekends until April 29.

Opening Reception and Meet the Artist will be held April 29 from 1-4p.m. Gallery on the Lake is located on highway 36, 3 Kms east of the town of Buckhorn.  For more information please call 705-657-1108, TOLL FREE 1-888-242-7475, or visit http://www.galleryonthelake.com
